Retro Runways / 1997-2001 Time Capsule

Today marks the launch of a new series where we revisit
runway looks from the 90s and 2000s. Enjoy.

Dolce & Gabbana - Fall 2001
-& No, I do not support this brand in present day-
The brand was launched in Italy in 1985.

(not sure why their photos are such high resolution
compared to the others from the period)

Helmut Lang - fall 1999
Lang was born in Austria in 1956,
and launched his brand in 1984.

Versace - spring 1997
He was murdered the summer of that year.
Designed by Gianni Versace.
His launched the brand in Italy in 1978.

Balenciaga - fall 2000
by Nicolas Ghesquière, b. 1971 in France.
In 1997, at age 25, he was chosen to head this Paris fashion house.

(most of the photos were not in focus so..)

Hermes - fall 1999
Designed by Martin Margiela, b. 1957 in Belgium
(my favourite from this series)

Between 1985 and 1987 Margiela worked for Jean Paul Gaultier, before showing
his first collection under his own label, Maison Margiela, which he started in 1989.
From 1997 to 2003 he was the creative director of the Hermès women's line.
In December 2009, Margiela left his namesake label, which is now owned by OTB Group.
OTB Group's president is Renzo Rosso, the founder of the denim brand Diesel.

Weird 90's

I plucked out a bunch of street style looks that remind me of the Nineties, when I was 5-15.
- Chinese silk/satin
- metallic platform shoes
- coloured hair

- large shoulders
- denim
- loose slacks
- furry shirt
- patterns & colours
- baby blue
- fringe

- leopard print
- high waisted jeans
- crop top
- floral dress
- flannel
- boots
- bomber jacket
- hoody
- faux fur bag
- big hoops
- this one is not quite the genre, but reminded me somehow

- pvc coat!
- white socks
- strappy black heels
- skirt with boots
Reminds me of KoRn  hahaha
Nic Cage in Wild At Heart! (1990)
This one`s my favourite.

I've posted this pic once before I think, but it's so great. One of the best parts about it is she's not wearing much/any makeup & her hair's sloppy, but her outfit's rad.

Crop Tops

The nostalgic crop top (especially for those born '75-'85) is on the forefront of my mind lately, in combination w/ visible sports bras. Never thought that latter one would seem stylish but the day has come. I prefer the concept of showing your upper stomach/rib cage above a high-waisted skirt (as shown above) rather than bringing back the naval midriff area which is more reminiscent of 'Hit me Baby One More Time,' something none of us need to be reminded of just yet.

my favourite stylegirl - Pixie Geldof
Clueless sports bras - 1995
Above & below: other sporty bra tops also from: www.etsy.com/shop/tarantulasisters
3 bellies: Salt-n-Pepa - 1993 ish
I think the long-sleeved crop top is extra 90s
Spice Girls in 'Say You'll Be There' video from 1996. Who was your favourite??
