Today marks the launch of a new series where we revisit
runway looks from the 90s and 2000s. Enjoy.
Dolce & Gabbana - Fall 2001
-& No, I do not support this brand in present day-
The brand was launched in Italy in 1985.
(not sure why their photos are such high resolution
compared to the others from the period)
Helmut Lang - fall 1999
Lang was born in Austria in 1956,
and launched his brand in 1984.
Lookit young Gisele! age 19
Versace - spring 1997
He was murdered the summer of that year.
Designed by Gianni Versace.
His launched the brand in Italy in 1978.
Balenciaga - fall 2000
by Nicolas Ghesquière, b. 1971 in France.
In 1997, at age 25, he was chosen to head this Paris fashion house.
(most of the photos were not in focus so..)
Hermes - fall 1999
Designed by Martin Margiela, b. 1957 in Belgium
(my favourite from this series)
Between 1985 and 1987 Margiela worked for Jean Paul Gaultier, before showing
his first collection under his own label, Maison Margiela, which he started in 1989.
From 1997 to 2003 he was the creative director of the Hermès women's line.
In December 2009, Margiela left his namesake label, which is now owned by OTB Group.
OTB Group's president is Renzo Rosso, the founder of the denim brand Diesel.
