Colour BLOCK
Lately I've been really inspired by outfits made up entirely of bright colours. It looks punchy and unconventional, and the more uncommon the shade the better it looks. Quite like the cut-out (generic pieces made unique by slices of skin showing through cutouts in the material), an unusual colour makes the cut & fabric less crucial to making the item special. Solid colours alone can make functional everyday pieces fun and stylish.

Jil Sander - deep Red, pink, orange. Almost sickly, pepto-bismol w/ cheddar cheese and then...what? The colour of the overcoat is a brave choice.

Sonia Rykiel - spring 2011

& this Fendi makeup (orange lips) w/ the aquamarine reminded me so much of the 80s.
The 1st two colours appear very mermaid/oceanic, but the orange takes the look to a futuristic/modern place.
cheeky, circus-like
Aquilano Rimondi - rusty orange, lime green, turquoise, dusty rose, and maroon
Acidic & then 70s. The shorts remind me of a 1970s track and field outfit.
Rich colours really pop in a lustrous material like this silk jacket.
The whole combination sends subliminal images of the the Joker:
The pants remind me of Jodie's outfit on the TV show Today's Special:
Jil Sander's Spring 2011 collection (designed by Raf Simons) is one of my favourites for it's unapologetic, excessive use of rare colours & colour combinations, fabric choices, curious accessories & loose pieces paired with fitted. Raf Simons (born January 12, 1968) is a Belgian fashion designer. He studied Industrial design, but after a few years of self-study, he became a menswear designer in 1995. In 2005 he was appointed as creative director for the Jil Sander label.

It's a really soothing combination even though it's bright and brash.

The living past: Mobile, Alabama historic buildings
Mobile is a city that has been claimed by six flags during its history, and the influence of its French, Spanish, and English past can be found in the variety of Mobile's historic neighborhoods. The De Tonti Square Historic District is a nine-block historic district in Mobile, roughly bounded by Adams, St. Anthony, Claiborne, and Conception Streets. Consisting mainly of townhouses built between 1840 and 1860, it includes examples of Federal, Greek Revival, and Italianate architectural styles.

Door:
- the front door of a Federal home is usually the most decorated part of the home’s exterior
- Federal style designers often enhance the drama of the front entrance with iron balconies and decorative moldings
- a semicircular or elliptical fan light above the door with or without flanking sidelights is a favorite device used in Federal architecture
