If you Have a Hearth

fur & shearling stockings hung by the chimney w/ care

..then you're one lucky son-of-a-gun & Christmas is counting on You to decorate it!

cylindrical glass candle holders w/ birchy beeswax candles, evergreen sprigs & miniature trees, SO purdy!

I put this one for the golden harps & lyres + old clock

a 'minimalist' or 'Scandinavian' mantle decorated w/ a long, asymmetrical Bay leaf, Salal, or Japanese pittosporum aka Japanese mock-orange would be nice too

another Scandinavian-style one w/ a miniature wintery town on it.

LOVE the retro white-sprayed spruce trees

oversize lanterns, gilded candlesticks, large deer statues

using branches off berry bushes & bowls of apples are also very christmassy

lining the mantel w/ a strand of christmas lights behind a garland is magical

moss, cedar boughs, pink cones, ferns & other foliage + topiaries make for a very lush, nature-inspired mantle

Angel figurines & impressive foliage 'trees' in planters. Placing candles inside the fireplace is also very trendy & pretty.

Love the silver-sprayed branches & wreath, not to mention the bone-like piece on the hearth.

Not so sure about the flat wooden 'stockings' though...

Paper snowflake garlands are always nice

Loving the fluffy, furry stocking ideas..

This glam room has silver-sprayed Logs in the fireplace !

This one's Hallowe'eny but still inspiring for a b&w theme or for pinning bird ornaments onto your branch decor

Crystal or gemstone garlands w/ mirrors & candles

Pre-fall 2016 Series: SONIA by Sonia Rykiel

Stiff trench + muted acidwash + pointy ankle booties + pilot necktie

Gives me the feeling of young women playing dress-up in slightly older clothing, so it has that brashness, that edge, but is playful.

Lacey tights seem to be a 2016 thing

Speaking of tights-- I Love white tights. SO ballet-kinderwhore

The spidery, Siouxsie ankle booties (apparently called Winklepickers) really take the concept to a smarter level.

A Tree like No Other

I used to be totally against fake trees. I used to be against a lot of dumb things.

One of the many perks of growing up, I guess - Letting go of identifying yourself via your 'opinions.'

Now I think more along the lines of: Life is for experimenting & changing. Have fun w/ your tree!

Placing small trees in unexpected corners of your home make them more special, I think.

I'm not too enthralled by the sparse style trees, but as a table centrepiece or by the phone if you have a little desk area, could be very nice.

Or, if you're anti-tree, making wintery scenes in your windows inspired by nature & ice are nice.

Trees like this, green w/ a snowy-white effect, seem to celebrate winter & the beauty of evergreens more than religion etc.

White trees are more extravagant & I think could look out of place in a casual (aka slightly messy or bohemian) space.

Modern homes/studio apartments seem to suit white trees best.

I thought this idea of putting a small tree in a children's room was so nice

Pink trees look quite retro

I find the black trees the most impressive in a traditional space. They look majestic & elegant.

Pre-fall 2016 Series: CHANEL

Glittery, gold-laced smoky nightdreams

Now, I'm not one of those fans who's impressed by everything the big whigs do (Chanel, Louis Vuitton & the like). + Who can ignore the fact that Coco Chanel herself was a known Nazi.

But I Do enjoy & appreciate design & fashion for what it is:

Self-expression, Art, & manifesting a Fantasy.

That being said, I was floored by the incredible set built for this runway show, much moreso than the actual clothes.

Chanel's locations are often incredible, but this was something else.
