a 'minimalist' or 'Scandinavian' mantle decorated w/ a long, asymmetrical Bay leaf, Salal, or Japanese pittosporum aka Japanese mock-orange would be nice too

another Scandinavian-style one w/ a miniature wintery town on it. 

LOVE the retro white-sprayed spruce trees

oversize lanterns, gilded candlesticks, large deer statues

using branches off berry bushes & bowls of apples are also very christmassy

lining the mantel w/ a strand of christmas lights behind a garland is magical

moss, cedar boughs, pink cones, ferns & other foliage + topiaries make for a very lush, nature-inspired mantle

Angel figurines & impressive foliage 'trees' in planters. Placing candles inside the fireplace is also very trendy & pretty.
